British Spelling standards

Aside from the British/American spelling differences, there also are spelling differences within British English. Basically, there are two spelling standards:
The Oxford Spelling is named after the Oxford English Dictionary. Examples of typical Oxford Spelling are realize, gourmandize, recognize. This spelling standard has its own IANA tag, en-GB-oed, and is used by many international organizations. A great part of academic literature uses Oxford Spelling.

Newspaper Spelling is named so because it is believed to have become popular thanks to newpapers using it. It is known for spellings like realise, gourmandise, recognise, which are considered to be the most British-looking forms by their users, while they are actually French in origin. This standard is used by most newspapers, on billboards, in brochures, etc. Nowadays approximately two-third of the British use this spelling. The IANA tag for Newspaper Spelling therefore simply is en-GB.
