Title
Grace Julian Clarke scrapbook, 1824; 1869-1883
Description
A scrapbook created by Grace Julian Clarke, an activist for women's suffrage and world peace, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The volume largely contains newspaper clippings with articles on current events, travel, prominent public figures, poetry and literature, and women's rights. Two series of articles written under the nom de plume of "Occasional." The first details the writer's travels and experiences traversing the United States on the Pacific Railroad to California and traveling along the West Coast to Canada during June-August, 1869 and the second, national politics in 1870. Other items in the scrapbook include an envelope with a drawing, a leaf, and a pressed flower.
