There are a couple of companies shipping PREEMPT_RT as a product, even though I'm not seeing them contribute to the game much.
I wouldn't be surprised that they start hiding PREEMPT_RT behind support contracts to fund either keeping the out-of-tree patches or aid in upstreaming the current effort.
As a PREEMPT_RT user in the embedded world, I'd be sad to see the efforts come to a halt, although I wonder what parts of the remaining patchset we'd be missing out on... (At this moment we're on the ancient 2.6.32+rt patchset)
