Nobel Peace laureate Malala wins World Children's Prize

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize co-laureate Malala Yousafzai has also been awarded the 2014 World Children’s Prize for the Rights of the Child. It’s the first time anyone has received both prizes in the same year.

The Pakistani teen, who was shot by the Taliban in her country because of her fight for girls’ rights to education, received the votes of millions of children.

Honorary prizes have been awarded to former Microsoft executive John Wood, who has spent 15 years working for books, school libraries, and schools for millions of children, along with Indira Ranamagar of Nepal who has fought for 20 years for the rights of the children of convicts to education and to live outside of prisons.
