#VolunteersWeek continues ⭐ Our Volunteer Photographers have taken on a new challenge this year, photographing thousands of murals to go on Art UK as part of our murals digitisation project. We recently joined Paul on a walk around Bedminster in Bristol during Upfest He’s been busy documenting the many new and older murals that can be found around the streets. Thanks to our volunteers, many more murals will soon be able to be viewed on Art UK! 👏 Artworks featured 📷 the artists and Upfest We are grateful to the project funders for their support for this programme: The National Lottery Heritage Fund Historic England Pilgrim Trust, Colwinston Charitable Trust, The Walker Trust and Honeymead Arts Trust. #Murals #StreetArt #Bristol #Volunteering

Art UK is an art education charity and the online home to every public art collection in the UK
About us
Art UK is an art education charity on a mission to make the art in UK public collections accessible to everyone, for enjoyment, learning and research. We enable global audiences to learn about the UK’s public art collection by digitising artworks, telling the stories behind the art, supporting teachers with online learning resources and creating exciting opportunities for public interaction with art, both online and offline. We also run an art detective agency. We play a major role supporting public art collections, by improving their accessibility and sustainability. 3,400 art collections share the Art UK platform to showcase their art to the world, in what is one of the largest ever arts partnerships put together in the UK. In the last 12 months, over 4.7 million unique users visited the site with over half of these from overseas and over 20% in the USA. No other country has such a resource.

Art UK reposted this
For centuries, the UK has been a melting-pot for artists. This summer we’re celebrating its magnetic spirit with ‘London: An Artistic Crossroads’ at Sotheby’s. The exhibition brings together a remarkable group of works from twelve museums across the country to shine a spotlight on the UK as a global center of art. From Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger to Francis Bacon, all works are by artists who spent time in or called this country home. Free and open to the public in our New Bond Street galleries from 25 May - 5 July, come see the works together for the first time ever, alongside the London Summer Sales, and learn more about the exhibition below.
