Iran's envoy to Caracas awarded medal by city's mayor

Venezuela-Iran- Medal
Caracas municipality awarded its highest medal to Iran's Ambassador to Venezuela Ahmad Sobhani.

The medal was awarded to appreciate the ambassador's efforts during recent years to expand political, cultural and social relations between the two countries.

Now, Caracas is the most important trade partner of Iran in South America region.

According to Iran's embassy to Caracas, the Venezuelan capital mayor awarded the medal to Mr. Sobhani on Thursday in a special ceremony marking 438th anniversary of foundation of Caracas city.

Venezuelan senior officials and foreign countries representatives to Caracas were present in the ceremony.

In addition to Iran's ambassador, Venezuelan parliament speaker, defense minister as well as housing minister received medals from Caracas mayor.

Caracas and Tehran have been announced "sister cities" .In Caracas there ia a street named 'Tehran' and the statue of Iranian philosopher, mathematician and poet Omar Khayyam has been installed there. In Tehran, the statue of Venezuelan national hero and Latin American freedom fighter Simon Bolivar is installed in a street named Simon Bolivar.
