UNDP Promote Mobile Phone Voting |
|
|
The Unified New Democratic Party is encouraging the public to use mobile phones to cast ballots in its presidential primaries.
One day before the primary for the Gwangju, South Jeolla Province on Friday, UNDP Chairman Oh Choong-il said that the world's first mobile phone voting system will demonstrate Korea's prowess in information technology as well as encourage young generations to vote.
The party's floor leader Kim Hyo-seok said he was confident about the success of the new voting system, citing the ever-increasing number of applications for mobile phone voting.
He also expressed hope that former President Kim Dae-jung will cast the first vote on a mobile phone in a move which the party hopes will encourage cell phone voting among citizens.
