Seleukid Empire

Seleukos was one of Alexander's generals who ended up with the vast Asian part of his empire,
extending from the Mediterranean to Panjab. The story is one of slow decline - the Iranians broke away
in the early 2nd century, and the Seleukid ended up as a micro-state in Syria mopped up by Pompeius of Rome in 64BC.
