But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

A Christian SchoolCanterbury Christian School

Jesus Christ in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3).

The primary objective and purpose of Canterbury Christian School is to train the student in the knowledge of God and the Christian way of life - and to give students an excellent education for that life. The school is a non-profit corporation offering kindergarten through sixth grade. It teaches a Christian world and life view, training its students to glorify God in every area of life.

Statement of Faith
We believe:

The Bible is the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God;
There is one God, eternally existent in three (3) Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
In the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His resurrection from the dead, and His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory;
In the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation becasue of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith we are saved;
In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation;
In the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
History

Canterbury Christian school is a ministry of and governed by St. Paul's Anglican Church. The school is its own entity (incorporated separately) and is non-denominational and Christ-centered. The school was established in the belief that the education of children is the God-given responsiblity of parents and the church, and exists to provide children with a strong academic foundation and a Christian worldview. The school was founded in 1974 and has been in continuous existence at this location.

Admissions Statement
Canterbury Christian School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs.
The school is open to all children whose parents agree with the Christian educational philosophy and administrative policies of the school. Each prospective student and the parents must have an interview with the administrator. Students (grades 1-6) are required to take an entrance examination for placement. Parents are obligated to pay $25 for such a test.

Curriculum
In keeping with the philosophy of the school, all subjects are taught in the light of God's Word. Each school day opens with a chapel service, and as the child progresses through the grades he also progresses in the knowledge of Biblical truths. In addition to the Bible, other subjects include reading, phonics, arithmetic, handwriting, science, history, spelling, music, and art. Latin is also taught starting at 3rd grade through 6th grade.

Canterbury Christian School maintains curricula standards above state requirements, but is not influenced by nor dictated to by state or federal government. The school does not use humanistic state text books.

Discipline
Canterbury Christian School expects full cooperation from both students and parents in the education of the student. A student who shows repeated behavioral problems will be subject to discipline. This is an indication that parents need to take action at home so that the teacher's time is not consumed with behavioral problems but with academic instruction.

Dress Code
We have adopted a school uniform for various reasons, including economic, democratic, and to conform with biblical standards of de-emphasis on materialism in dress, and to emphasize personality and character.
Our dress code requires wearing the school uniform each day. We will send home reminder notices if a student is "out of uniform" and we ask your cooperation in helping him/her be a good citizen in compliance with school rules. As the example for your child your attitude counts! Help us present an attractive Christian image.
