Who would Jesus bomb? Yeah, who would Jesus kill?
The double talk is past surreal
The word of god is now the word of hate
War is peace, and freedom is the police state
Can't you see the writing on the wall?
Democracy lays trampled on the floor...

You better believe that...
Hell yeah I'm confused for sure what I thought was the New Millennium is 1984!
Mr. Orwell from the grave, adding fresh ink to the page
As the unpresident declares an endless war...
Welcome to 1984!

Feels like Nazi Germany, and Hitler on TV,
As the unpresident spews his homophobic speech
Didn't the Allies fight a war to end extremist fascist law
So tell me NOW what the fuck are we fighting for?

I just can not take it anymore
Democracy lays trampled on the floor...
Man, isn't freedom great?!?!

Hell yeah I'm confused for sure what I thought was the New Millennium is 1984!
Mr. Orwell from the grave, adding fresh ink to the page
As the unpresident declares an endless war...

Now we've got...
Armies of peace, armed to the teeth, delivering death to make the world a better place
So celebrate the weapons spending, say a toast to Armageddon, raise some hell!
We're all headed straight to hell!!!

Hell yeah I'm confused for sure what I thought was the New Millennium is 1984!
Mr. Orwell from the grave, adding fresh ink to the page
As the unpresident declares an endless war...
Welcome to 1984!

Stop trying to assume you know what they're talking about. You have no clue as to what they were thinking. Trying to define lyrics is such a waste of time. Why do you need to know exactly what they feel?

Welcome to 1984 | Reviewer: Goldman | 2/18/10

This song is just saying how, although we try to avoid living in a world that is portrayed in Orwell's 1984, we aren't entirely free from it. Anti-Flag is just pointing out these similarities and that our country isn't perfect like the government makes us out to be. They're telling us to break away from that preset mold and to think for ourselves instead of just following along blindly. Don't rely on the government to make all of your decisions for you. Don't do things just because they tell you to. Open your eyes and do something about what's going on here.

Nineteen Eighty-Four | Reviewer: Ryan | 3/22/09

"War Is Peace"
"Freedom Is Slavery"
"Ignorance is Strength"

If you havent read 1984 yet read it, it's probably the best book of the 20th century. Anti-Flag did a great job with this song, I am very impressed.

this song has made the most since to me than any other song. | Reviewer: Sam Vicious | 3/4/09

first off FUCK THE USA!
second war is nothing but murdering.
people in the usa go around against murderers saying how bad they are and then support soldiers who murder people too. what the fuck is up with that.i am anarchist, the government has never made since to me,im getting sick and tired of hearing about people getting killed in war because it is not right for people to killed and then have the news advertise it on tv like its a damn car commercial. i would do anything to see anarchy reign. i know that it probably wont happen but hell, i can dream right?

this is my opinion so dont bitch about what i say.

Your correct on all point, but in your reference to no modern computing in the NWO, if the governments had allowed computing to evolve, sooner or later something like todays net would have been invented, and since each government fed the people lies, the internet would have been unacceptable since it could have been used to tell the people how other countries were. Also, it could have been used to help people join up in action to overthrow the countries.

Remember these words: | Reviewer: Mac | 12/28/07

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."

--Goering at the Nuremberg Trials

1984 | Reviewer: Al | 8/10/07

the similarities between 1984 and the current state of america;

big brother is watching - constant cctv surveilance whether it is needed or not, complete government access to all bank records, future id cards that will track your movements through cities in order to 'protect against terrorism'.

the endless war against eurasia/eastasia - originally against comunism in russia (which lasted for 40 years) now against islam, more specifically militant fundamentalist islam, this war will never end (or take a very long time) and is used to unite the people against a common enemy and for profit for the weapons manufacturers.

One channel telescreen - we dont quite have one channel, but we have something 'better' lots of 'news' channels owned by a handful of very large companies, spouting the same shit to get you to believe what they want you to believe.

One party government - we have the next best thing, democrats and republicans who share the same basic policies and only differ on a few issues which makes them look different.

War is peace - 'pre-emtive strikes' to keep the peace in the middle east (even though we cause more problems than there was to start with), support of israel-the worst human rights abusers on the planet.

Slavery is freedom - in order to protect freedom from the terrorists we must have it taken away from us- patriot act, military commisions act etc.

that is all i can think of right now.
read the book, the similarites are shocking even though it was written in 1948 (no modern computing involved in this New World Order)

Explaination | Reviewer: Nathan | 5/18/07

Orwell wrote the book 1984, and anti-flag compare the current situation in the US (patriot act - named so to make anyone who doesn't think the act is right look unpatriotic...) to the one in the book, and also to hitlers fascist regime.

Well.. | Reviewer: Harley | 4/30/07

The song is named after the book Nineteen Eighty-Four. The book is about "big brother" watching our every move. Which I believe is a reference too the patriot act and the way the president is able to exploit people the way he is allowed for "protection of the country".

What things? | Reviewer: Jeanne | 4/27/07

So,I don't understand why they speak of these subjects.
Can you help me?
