GRAND THEFT AUTO V
2013, XBOX 360, PS3
There's something of an East Coast/West Coast rivalry internalised by the Grand Theft Auto games. After dominating a pseudo-New York in GTA IV, the fifth entry hopped back across 'Murca for a sun-soaked tale of criminal fraternity in Los Santos. One of the most painstakingly realised virtual cities ever seen, it's perfectly possible to spend days blissfully exploring, enjoying bitingly satirical radio stations. Not enough? The complex relationships between three leads – a series first – whose lives are spiralling out of control leads to one of the series' most engrossing stories, capped off by Oscar-worthy performances from its voice cast. Impeccable.

PLAYING GRAND THEFT AUTO V
Your fondest memories...
"Allowing players to switch between characters was a great addition to the game and showed Rockstar can still be innovative. It's always good to catch up with each character, but the mission that utilises the new set-up best was Three's Company as each character demonstrates their skills and the player gets to play different parts of the mission. Plus all the usual inappropriate behaviour."
"First going in to Los Santos and being amazed at the scale, beauty and life of the world. The amazing variety in the world from the gang territories, to the rich parts of the city, from the scorching desert to the top of Mount Chiliad, there's just so much to see and do."
"Online dog fights, Trevor's antics, chasing a flaming 747, parachuting out of a flaming 747, enrolling in an online self-improvement scam, fighting off an army of clowns, hunting down innocent players with my friends, blazing through the streets of Los Santos ramping off every elevated object in sight, going shopping, cooperative missions, mountain biking, planning a heist, casing a bank, robbing said bank, escaping said bank while being chased by the police, putting real life on hold and an innumerable amount of random chaos. YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE."
"The first time I broke into the Army Base, I kept driving, knowing it was only a matter of time before I was taken out. It was the middle of the night, I drove a convertible straight down the never ending runway which was fully lit up. Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty came on the radio. I knew I couldn't allow myself to be taken out of this moment.........so I drove straight until I crashed straight into the wall of the base."
