Editor
Tom Radko
did his graduate work in English at the University of Chicago and immediately migrated to the University of Chicago Press as his first foray into publishing. He has worked in the publishing industry for over 30 years at a variety of scholarly presses other than Chicago (Rutgers, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Wesleyan) and commercial houses (Humanities, Alyson). He has chaired the Admissions and Standards Committee of the Association of American University Presses, served on the AAUP Marketing Committee as well as the AAUP Diversity Task Force, chaired the Advisory Council of the Connecticut Center for the Book and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Transaction Publishers. Committed to the notion that publishing is a viable and valuable calling, he has taught a book publishing course at Wesleyan and at Hampshire College. After serving as director at both Nevada and Wesleyan, he is currently studying the relationship between publishers and librarians while working as Editorial Director at Choice.

Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should include a short abstract of not more than 150 words; up to 5 subject keywords (single words or short phrases); and a short biographical note of 15-50 words.

Double-space all text, including notes and extracts.

Do not justify text on the right margin.

Use tabs (not spaces) to indent paragraphs. Use hard returns at the end of paragraphs only. Do not insert an extra line space between paragraphs.

All figures should be provided in high-resolution JPEG or TIFF format.

Most JSP articles fall between 1500 and 5000 words, but we will consider longer or shorter articles if appropriate.

Headings
Indicate first-level headings with boldface.

Indicate second-level headings with italics.

Notes
Notes should appear as endnotes, not footnotes. Use your word-processing program's Footnotes or Notes function to create your endnotes rather than numbering them manually.

Use humanities style for notes, with superscript indicators in the text.

Examples:
For books: R.K. Merton, The Sociology of Science: Theorectical and Empirical Investigations (Chicago: University of Chicago Press 1973): 126-8

For journals: Jim Oppenheimer, ‘CD ROM Sales: It’s All in the Packaging,’ CD ROM Professional 8 (March 1995): 33-9

Style
Spelling generally follows Oxford.

Numbers: write numbers from one to ninety-nine. Use figures for percentages and measurements.

Use single quotation marks, with double quotation marks for quotes within quotes.
