Zelda Wii U Delayed to 2017, Also Coming to NX

The Legend of Zelda Wii U has been delayed to 2017.

This comes via Nintendo's official Twitter account, among a slew of information from the company's latest fiscal results. According to the Tweet, the rationale behind the delay is to "improve the quality" of the game.

"Though originally scheduled for 2016, the release of the latest "The Legend of Zelda” title is postponed until 2017, to allow further improvement of quality" the tweet reads. "Thank you for your understanding."

Nintendo also confirmed that Zelda Wii U will be coming to its new console, the NX, which is confirmed to launch globally March 2017. "An NX version is also currently in development, to release simultaneously with the Wii U version."

Nintendo will focus primarily on the new Zelda at E3, while the NX will be absent from the show.

"NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year" reads a press release from the company.

"This June, Nintendo will focus its attentions on the upcoming game in The Legend of Zelda series. The Wii U version of the game will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo presents at the show, in order to provide attendees a complete immersion. Additional information about Nintendo’s E3 plans will be announced in the future."
