The capital city of Canada is Ottawa. Ottawa is located along the Ottawa River and was founded in 1826 as Bytown. The name was changed to Ottawa in 1855 and has been the capital of Canada since 1857, replacing Kingston. The area that is now Ottawa started out as a humble lumber town but grew into something much more.

Current Prime Minister

The prime minister of Canada is Justin Trudeau and he is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and was elected Canada's 23rd prime minister and assumed office on November 4, 2015. Trudeau is a part of the Liberal Party of Canada. He is also one of the youngest people to become a global head of state. He is currently 49 years old (born on December 25, 1971).

Languages Spoken

Canada has two official languages: French (mostly spoken in the provinces of Quebec) and English, but they are not the only languages spoken in the country.
