The Talents Labs are where we get down to the nitty-gritty of filmmaking. If you're applying with a project, you can develop and present it at the Script Station, Doc Station, Short Form Station or Talent Project Market. All other Talents can look forward to taking part in Studios, practical workshops tailored to their specific needs and disciplines.
In addition to their general application, directors and screenwriters or producers can submit a project in development to the following Talents Labs. Targeted group and one-on-one mentoring sessions help participants hone their concepts and story structures, or find co-production partners and financiers to move their projects forward.
The Doc Station invites ten participants to share their non-fictional scripts or concepts with a line-up of internationally acclaimed film consultants. In a tailored combination of group work and one-on-one sessions, each project is dissected, discussed and developed, culminating in a public presentation under the keen eyes of industry players.
The Short Form Station invites ten participants to share their short form projects with a line-up of internationally acclaimed script consultants and storytelling experts. In a tailored combination of group work and one-on-one sessions, each project is dissected, discussed and developed, culminating in a public presentation under the keen eyes of industry players.
The Script Station invites ten participants to share their feature-length screenplays with a line-up of internationally acclaimed script consultants. In a tailored combination of group work and one-on-one sessions, each project is dissected, discussed and developed, culminating in a public presentation under the keen eyes of industry players.
Time to talk business. The producers of ten feature films are invited to meet co-producers and financiers amid the bustle of the Berlinale Co-Production Market. Participants benefit from guidance provided by established industry mentors and learn to position their projects within the international production landscape in preparation for numerous tailored one-on-one meetings.
Actors, cinematographers, editors, production designers, sound designers, composers, sales agents, distributors and audience designers attending Berlinale Talents are automatically invited to become part of a Studio, intensive one-day workshops centred on their respective discipline. In the Studios they can share ideas with fellow Talents, mentors and experts and explore the aesthetics and mechanics of their profession.
Led by renowned movement directors and acting coaches Jean-Louis Rodrigue and Kristoff Konrad, the Acting Studio is a hands-on workshop based on the Alexander Technique. Actors are encouraged to broaden their awareness of themselves and their attentiveness to others.
The Camera Studio invites the attending cinematographers to consider how their aesthetic and technical choices shape the stories they tell.
During the Editing Studio, expert mentors with backgrounds in fiction and documentary filmmaking engage and inspire Talents to explore the ethics and politics of the editing room.
Through the Market Studio, distributors, sales agents and audience designers are invited to work with seasoned experts and share their experience and ideas with peers.
The Production Design Studio brings together visionary experts and crafty Talents to reimagine the rules between set design and narrative practice.
The Sound Studio invites Talents to engage in collective jam sessions driven by their specific cultural backgrounds, encouraging sound designers and composers to reflect on their practices.
