The quality of this study guide totally depends on the feedback on the exam we receive from people who have passed the exam. If you did, please take a few minutes to give us any feedback that you might have. You do not need to register on WikiBooks to add a comment.

Minimal rules

There are very few rules to follow in your comments:

• Please use correct language.

• Do not put anything that would be subject to copyright. In particular, we are not interested in the actual exam questions, but rather on the knowledge required to answer those questions. You may put "example questions" to guide the reader, but no "braindumps" please.

Ok, I just took the exam and failed. I used mearure-up practice exam to study as well as online .NET resources. I felt I was really prepared and confident I would pass. However, the majority of my question were on CultureInfo and RegionInfo, which I obviously did not cover enough. I am hopeful the information in this Wiki will get me over the top. I wonder how many people fail the first time.

Passed with 754

Hi, I passed today the 70-536 exam with not incredible much, but enough 754 points. I used only the 70-536 preparation kit book from Microsoft and trained with the included MessureUp tests. Of course I also read some other books a bit, but in general I used the MessureUp tests to memorize the correct answers and read the book in some hours. Honestly said, I was too lazy and did not train the labs in the book - afterwards, I would recommend to practise the labs, because this helps a lot to memorize the API methods a lot.

Was it difficult? Hmm... I'm a original Java programmer and I felt the questions from Microsoft were not that tough as from the SUN exams, but yes, when I read the first question I already recognized, the questions from MessureUp are not that tough as the real test questions. Personally, my by far biggest drawback was the AppDomain/CultureInfo area, but even then, it's possible to pass (as I am). Interestingly no single question about value<->reference types came up on my exam, one of the stuff I feel at home. Before I submitted the questions 1 hour before the time limit reached (sorry, but else I know or I guess - why sticking around for nothing?), I was sure I answered only 3 questions correctly and the last 37 questions I was more or less unsure...

Since I'm new to .NET (C#) I can only say: You don't need years of experience. Take the MS Preparation Kit book and read it carefully (practise the exams!). After that it's very likely you pass the exam.

One last note: I'm not the biggest fan of the MS Preparation Kit book, since I was sometimes irritated because I couldn't get sometimes a correct/meaningful answer to some questions from the MessureUp tests. But since I don't know a better resource and I have the feeling you have a >70% chance to pass with this book, I can still recommend it.
