LOGOS

This page provides information and guidelines to the Wake Forest community regarding the use of Wake Forest's athletic logos which may be used for athletic-related communications and marketing materials, team uniforms and consumer apparel. The intention is to protect the integrity of the institution's athletic logos and to ensure such logos are used in an appropriate manner.

The bold block WF, the bold block WF with Deacon head, the Demon Deacon, and the Wake Forest logotype are official athletic logos. All athletic logos must always maintain approved colors, proportions and design integrity. No alterations may be made, nor shall design elements be placed inside any of the athletic logos.

If modifications are required due to manufacturing limitations, they must be submitted and approved by Wake Forest Department of Athletics Strategic Communications prior to production.

FORMATS

Logos are available for download in three different file formats. To download, select the desired logo in this link.

PRINT GUIDELINES

Content is as important to your marketing and promotional materials as is the graphic presentation. Correct grammar, use of abbreviations and spelling is essential in the presentation of the university and athletic department. As a rule, all marketing materials, brochures, flyers, posters, newsletters, newspapers, alumni publications, online content and other department communications should follow The Associated Press Stylebook.

WRITING STYLE GUIDELINES

  • WF is to be used as a logo only, not as words in text.
  • Use of "Wake Forest" as a team name is approved.
  • Use of "Wake Forest Demon Deacons" as a team is approved.
  • Use of "Demon Deacons" alone is acceptable if the school name, "Wake Forest," has already been used before it.
  • Use of "Deacons" alone is acceptable if the school name, "Wake Forest," and the full mascot name, "Demon Deacons," have already been used, either together or separately, before it.
  • Never use "Lady Deacs/Deacons" as a team name for any women's teams.
  • Never use "Diamond Deacs/Deacons" as a team name for baseball.
  • When referring to Wake Forest University, Wake Forest Athletics, or any Wake Forest school name in text, do not format differently from the rest of the text, such as with boldface, larger type size, italics or underlining.
  • When referring to the athletic department in text, please follow these guidelines:
    • Wake Forest Department of Athletics or the Department of Athletics (formal name – capitalized)
    • Wake Forest Athletics (formal name – capitalized)
    • the athletic department (informal name – not capitalized) (do not use "athletics department")
  • When referring to specific sport teams in text, do not capitalize the sport unless it is being used as a proper noun (e.g. the Wake Forest football team or Wake Forest Field Hockey invites you to…).
  • For additional University-wide writing style guidelines, please click here.

TEAM UNIFORMS

  • The approved WF logo must be used on uniforms, never just W or WFU.
  • If the school name is used on uniforms, it must be "Wake Forest," never "Wake Forest University" or just "Wake." "Wake Forest" should also appear on one line (not stacked).
  • Equipment Services and Sports Marketing will determine standard black and gold fabric colors (and gray, if they choose to use it) for uniforms.

MERCHANDISE APPAREL

The marks of Wake Forest University are controlled under a licensing program administered by The Collegiate Licensing Company. Any use of these marks will require written approval from The Collegiate Licensing Company.
  • If a WF logo is used on consumer apparel, it must be the approved logo.
  • If the mascot name is used on consumer apparel, it is recommended that "Demon Deacons," be used, not just "Deacons" or "Deacs."
