Twinnings aim at the development of economic, administrative, artistic, cultural, youth work-related and educational cooperation for the mutual benefit of the twin cities.
They are initiated to give the citizens of both cities the opportunity to get to know the respective twin city's culture and ways of life. The realisation of these and other objectives by the city councils and their partners may include official visits, joint projects, work and other exchanges, training courses, or counselling in which the cities' citizens, associations and foundations, and institutions are actively involved by way of youth exchanges or meetings of the senior citizens of both cities.
The development of economic exchanges and cooperations on the basis of the twinnings is presently of special importance. |
