How to verify the Kicksecure Images : Template:Verify the iso images

Write the ISO to USB or DVD

TODO: document

Instructions depend on the host operating system you are using, Windows, Linux, Mac and would be the same as how it's done for ISO's from other Linux distributions (except for a different ISO file name).

Boot the ISO

1. Poweroff your host computer.

2. Discover out the Boot Menu key based on your machine's motherboard:

  • Acer: F12, F9, F2, Esc
  • Apple: Option
  • Asus: Esc
  • Clevo: F7
  • Dell: F12
  • Fujitsu: F12, Esc
  • HP: F9
  • Huawei: F12
  • Intel: F10
  • Lenovo: F12, Novo
  • MSI: F11
  • Samsung: Esc, F12, F2
  • Sony: F11, Esc, F10
  • Toshiba: F12
  • Others: F12, Esc

3. Power on your computer and press several times the first possible Boot Menu key identified in step 2.

4. If the computer starts on another operating system or returns an error message, shut down the computer again and repeat step 3 for all the possible Boot Menu keys identified in step 2. If a Boot Menu with a list of devices appears, select your USB stick and press Enter.

5. If the computer starts on {{{project}}}, the GRUB Boot Loader will appear giving boot options. It will start automatically the persistent mode after some seconds.

TODO: add GRUB photo

Use the Kicksecure Live ISO (Optional)

TODO: document

Optional. You could try out, experiment with ISO similar to how other Live ISOs by other Linux distributions can be used. Installation to hard drive is optional.

Install Kicksecure (Optional)

TODO: document

Use the installer desktop icon and install {{{project}}} {{{flavor_case_sensitive}}} either to the internal or an external hard drive.

Reboot

If you installed {{{project}}} from a an external USB drive, remove the drive first to avoid being redirected to the {{{project}}} live ISO on the next boot.

Alternatively, during boot, enter the Boot Menu and select the drive where {{{project}}} was installed and make it take precedence over the other boot options, therefore starting {{{project}}} by default on future startups.

Done

The process of installing {{{project}}} {{{flavor_case_sensitive}}} has been completed!
